Zebra was founded as Ishikawa Pen Manufacture Company in 1896. It was changed to Zebra Co. Ltd, the present name, in 1963. It is the first manufacturer to produce ball-point pens in Japan The first ball-point pen in Japan, No. 5911, went on sale at 1959. Now, it still produces ball-point pens for Japanese people.
